Made's husband, Ketut Putra, learned the silver trade from his father. He & his brother started a small shop in 1970. He lends local craftspeople the money to buy themselves 5 kilos of silver from which they make jewelry, & they sell the finished pieces back to Ketut.

Wayan Sudira has worked with silver nuggets for 18 years, making fine jewelry by hand.

 

In Celuk, Bali,  Made Manis models several of the rings sold at her shop. She & her husband live at the back of the store along with their two sons and daughter.
